Kwinana Terminal ‘A’
As part of the Puma Energy’s Port of Kwinana Fuel Import and Distribution Terminal Project, Lanskey Constructions were appointed as builder for the project. Focus Demolition were commissioned by Lanskey to complete site clearing of the 10ha site in Kwinana and the remediation of contaminated soil due to asbestos contaminated soil/debris being discovered.
The fuel import terminal will supply the retail outlets for the new Western Australian base for Puma Energy. Along with consulting town planners TPG, MODUS Design has assisted with documentation for a comprehensive development approval submission.
The premises are located within the heavy industrial zone of the Kwinana Industrial Area. It is located alongside the railway west of BHP Nickel West and just north of the CBH grain terminal.
Onsite work commenced in the first quarter of 2019 with project completion scheduled for the third quarter of 2020.
Carnarvon Power Station
The Horizon Power project included full demolition of redundant power station and soil remediation by Focus Demolition (engaged by GHD).
Built at Brown Range, a 5.4ha site on North West Coastal Highway, the 18MW Mungullah power station has taken over power production from the old Carnarvon Power Station. It also has the ability to be expanded to provide for the region’s forecast growth.
With the first sod turned in March 2011, site earth works to clear native bushland were completed in August 2011.
Horizon Power worked with the traditional owners and custodians of the area, the Inggarda people, one of the five groups who form the Gnulli people, throughout the project to carry out heritage surveys of the power station site.
Following insitu and laboratory testing, CMW Geosciences provided a number of foundation and ground improvement options for the various proposed facilities. In order to mitigate risks of ground collapse, a mixture of deep and shallow foundation options was recommended for the various structures and loads. Ground improvement was also provided as an option, and was recommended for areas of the site supporting larger vertical loads.
